Stakeholder Network

Reducing the risks of climate change will require unprecedented collaboration between the public, private, NGO and third-sector communities, as well as joined-up strategies between the developing and developed world. Effective climate change mitigation policies and actions will require many groups "around the table" when decisions are taken and resources sought for reducing the risks from climate change:
  • Government offices that set the policies within which organisations act
  • Planners who determine how future communities are designed and built
  • Businesses that sit at the heart of modern economies, and draw on natural resources to produce goods and services
  • Donor agencies that provide funding for national and international efforts in climate change mitigation and adaptation
  • NGOs that frame the environmental debate, helping the world understand what is at stake and potential paths forward
  • The Media who influence the public perception of climate change and the roles and responsibilities of everyone
  • Educators and researchers who build the base of knowledge and "human capital" from which innovative solutions emerge
Each of these is a stakeholder with differing roles, responsibilities, resources and perspectives on the problems ahead. The resources you will find on this Engagement site are designed to assist each of these stakeholders in working towards a common goal of reducing the risks of climate change by marshalling the research findings and insights of the world's community of advanced researchers at 4CMR and our Partners.

You will find connections to some of the larger Stakeholder organisations in the boxes in the right hand column. We have chosen these particular connections because the organisations provide portals to larger communities of groups with similar interests, goals and constituencies. By informing these organisations and their communities, we are able to bring our findings to a global network of policy-makers who will collectively bring about the sustainable, low carbon world we envision at 4CMR.

Note that our listing to the right focuses on UK-based organisations. If you would like guidance on organisations elsewhere around the globe, please Contact Us...
